  1. Meet the Saw-Whet Owl! Only about the size of a robin, they are one of the smallest owl species in the world AND are widely known as the “CUTEST OWLS EVER!” (Source: duh). They are native to North America and can be found in thick bushes and trees where they hunt small birds and mammals of the forest. When prey is plentiful they will hide extra kills in tree branches, later bringing them back to the den where they must first be thawed out if frozen.

You may have passed right by a Saw-whet owl without knowing. During the day they remain frozen to avoid predators, often on branches at eye level. So keep a lookout, and try the mice!
