  1. Death isn’t anything, there is only life. Life is a process that runs for a while, then it stops. We don’t have a word for the state before the process starts, it just isn’t.

And the process only stops for the bit of the branch of life you’re on. Life started millions of years ago and has just kept going, from cell to cell, organism to organism, and parent to child in an uninterrupted chain. Death is only the end if you think the story is about you.

  2. Great comic! I don’t know if you’ve heard of it but there’s this other comic called MaryDeath that features Life and Death as basically opponents trying to one-up each other throughout the strip’s run. Too bad the author stopped making them, but they were definitely cute.

  3. Death is entropy. Stars “die” and mars is “dead”.

Unless something neither acts or is acted upon, it will entropy and eventually it will “die”. Stars burn out, planets become lifeless, rocks get eroded into nothing, ice melts, even radiation can eventually reach its end (would take a LONG time though. Would literally need to burn out atom by atom, until it burns out the last one).

While life as we know it isn’t inevitable, entropy is, and thus so is death.
